Also known as Chevy, Chevrolet is a brand owned by General Motors (GM). At its inception, Chevy was put up to competition with Ford’s model T, for an everyday purpose vehicle and at one point, Chevy outsold ford in the competition. Due to the prominence and name recognition of Chevrolet, it has become the parent company’s global marque. Synonyms include Chevy or Chev, indicating its global success, including in the home turf. Daewoo, a local brand of South Korea, is succeeded by Chevrolet. In Oceania, Chevrolet is represented by Holden Special Vehicles albeit after a 50 years absence. Chevrolet, as a brand recently crossed a century in operations.

Chevrolet had an iconic lineup in its sleeves. Chevrolet Suburban has been on production since 1933, and is the oldest continually produced vehicle in automotive history.  The Corvette is one of the most iconic models, sought after even today. It started the journey from 1953, and is still in production. Camaro, a muscle car, has been known worldwide as on par or even better than its immediate rival, Ford Mustang. Silverado has been a challenge to the best-selling vehicle of USA, the Ford F series. Silverado also enjoyed massive success in the home turf. At one point in history, Chevrolet Volt was the bestselling PHEV in USA. Figures like this surely define the stance of chevy in the books.

Chevrolet also sells parts, such as engine block, transmission and chassis. Chevrolet LS series engine has been a massive hit, with its installation in aftermarket modification of cars. Its small block V8 prowess has surely captured the aftermarket parts industry. With production of popular, affordable for masses vehicles, from subcompact cars to beefy trucks, Chevrolet has catered not decades but a century serving the American desire.
