Range Rover MPG

In this post, we will discuss gas mileage (in mpg) of 2021 Land Rover Range Rover series of variants along with their salient features, specs and price. Range Rover is the luxury SUV model from the Jaguar Land Rover factory, with its main focus on the high-end market business. Surely, it comes with the history of off-road bred into its system, but focuses on AWD system more than 4×4 with exquisite finishes and fine dining interior designs as well. Surely the numbers could do better in sales, but the design and execution has been flawless.

Range Rover is available in the USA as regular Range Rover, Sports, Velar, Evoque, Sports SVA and SVR. These models are in various configurations which includes a PHEV option too. The regular models are either petrol or diesel powered. The Ranger Rover PHEV with 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine has the best EPA gas mileage of 42 miles per gallon combined on gas and electric mode with just 19 mpg on gas only. The figures taper off, with diesel variants getting a respectable 24 mpg combined mileage. The worst of all in mileage is the Range Rover SVA 5.0L supercharged 8-cylinder engine with a combined gas mileage of 15 mpg. Getting a PHEV version is the shift from all gas and diesel engine to a cleaner slew of vehicles, on which Land Rover as company is moving forward.

Competition for this category of luxury sports car includes models such as Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes GLE Class and BMW X5. While Range Rover has more options in this category, there are some strong points to claim its throne. Mercedes Benz GLE Class doesn’t have the PHEV option standard while the rest of the models have a foray in the field. The rest of the models have a very modest mpg rating, ranging from high 20-24 mpg in the non-PHEV models to a low of 15-17 mpg.

As we can see from the charts above, Range Rover presents us with a variety of options with PHEVS and diesel and gasoline models as well. Even though BMW X5 has the highest mileage in PHEV segment, Range Rover has the better bite in non-PHEV model thanks to inclusion of a diesel engine as well. Range Rover is the only model with a diesel engine as an option in the above list. That definitely calls for more options in the lineup. All Mercedes Benz GLE models are all wheel drive (AWD), except GLE350, which is a rear-wheel drive model. All BMW X5 models are all wheel drive (AWD) except sDrive model, which is a rear-wheel drive model. All Porsche Cayenne are all wheel drive (AWD). Range Rover comes in various trims with AWD and FWD (Evoque).

Land Rover Range Rover

Range Rover, a model that spawned from the factory of Land Rover in 1970 and as of 2021, it is in the 4th generation. British Leyland was the owner at the time and the name tag has become a common name in the dictionary of Land Rover. By default, production of Range Rover was to bring 4×4 into mass with premium styling alongside the dedicated off-road marque that Land Rover was famous for. Surely, AWD is not untrendy as 4×4, but works well for the city crawler in you. The shift towards AWD and monocoque chassis has made the Range Rover family more city friendly and useful in daily life.
