Land Rover has been a predominantly four-wheel drive off-road capable vehicle since the early 1940s. It has been on various caring hands with Rover being the first and then bought by Leyland, followed by British Leyland and Land Rover Ltd, with the current owner as of JLR (Jaguar Land Rover), a subsidiary of Tata Motors. Land Rover carries a very rich history with its segment slowly transitioning from off-road legends to now a luxury off-road vehicle. The original theme has been portrayed in its success, with Land Rover still getting the cult following from every place it has been sold.

Land Rover models started off as Land Rover as they were not given any designated name plate that we see now. Once Land Rover was successful as a brand, then only came the Range Rover, Defenders and Discovery model. Defender roamed all over the continents and is one of the most prominent off-roading vehicles of all time. And they were built to last, as a lot of those old models are still in operation till date. Land Rover made the most iconic vehicle and a new version of Defender has come, encompassing the past with futuristic concepts. The silhouette of Defender is the most recognizable in the auto community.

Range Rover is the range topping luxury sports segment from Land Rover. These models are luxurious, upscale and expensive. Range Rover have Evoque, Velar, Sports and just the Range Rover branding.

Discovery name tag goes to another recognizable product from the Land Rover stable. It came in 1989 and these models are targeted as practical and family oriented with up to 7 seats; A real family-oriented model for the masses. Defender models are the most recognizable model from Land Rover. It has been in existence along side the Discovery in the 1990. But they were rebadged from the 110 and 90 from early 80s. Defender models are the boxy ladder framed models, which are synonyms with the Land Rover name as Wrangler is to Jeep.

Land Rovers have been used in wars, ambulances, snow ploughs, six-wheel drive versions and much more. Highly modified Land Rovers have been used in Dakar Rally too. The company has a cult following, with having clubs for those fans.

Even though the company shifted from various owners, it truly maintained the heritage that the original company has. It has production facilities in Brazil, China, India, Slovakia and the United Kingdom. Staying true to its tagline “Above & Beyond”, Land Rover truly provides features and services above and beyond.
